New owners. Excellent breakfast. Homemade bread. Everything made from scratch. The owner is friendly and grateful for your business. Atmosphere is clean and cheerful. Fun nostalgic music really fit the feel of cafe. Excellent coffee. Clean bathrooms. New owner is on the right path. Quality food with friendly staff.

Seriously good food at The Butternut Cafe. Tonight's Friday Fish Fry classic Fish & Chips featured a beautifully battered and fried piece of cod. Malt vinegar on the tables. Tartar sauce on point. Tangy cold coleslaw. Wash it all down with a Miller High Life and it's the perfect father/daughter vacation dinner date! Breakfasts are great here as well and the pizzas are superb - and that's coming from someone who eats a NYC slice at least once a week! Definitely making a trip back for a delicious meaty cheesy burger treat before I have to leave Butternut. Thanks to the Van Ordens and their awesome staff for a wonderful time as always!

THE BEST SPOT TO EAT IN WISCONSIN! The Butternut Cafe has an extensive breakfast menu full of delicious choices. My favorites were the pancakes and the "Toad in a hole" where the chef makes a fried egg in the middle of a buttered piece of toast. Veterans drink coffee for free.

Stick around for a lunch and get the soon to be famous "Mighty Midget Burger" along with a malt or shake. The burger has a patty that is filled with cheese, onions, and whatever else you want. All the food is handmade and a lot of the meat comes from local farms.

Pizzas in the evening are the best. All the pizzas are made from scratch any way you like. I recommend the sausage and mushroom pizza.

The owners are locals who also work at the cafe. They have created a down to earth, friendly establishment where everyone is on a first name basis. If you are ever anywhere near Butternut, make sure to stop here at least once!

This place has charm, a great atmosphere, and delicious food. I'm not sure which I like more, breakfast or the amazing pizza. It can be somewhat quiet up in the north woods after 5 PM so it's nice they offer late night food that's not bar food (even though I can always go for some cheese curds, which they also have and they are yummy too). Can't wait to visit again!!
